Learn how to apply for Social Services benefits in CT

There are several ways you can apply for benefits with the Department of Social Services (DSS). The quickest and easiest way to apply is online. You can also download and mail in an application or bring it in person. Some programs even allow you to apply over the phone.

On a mobile device? Use myDSS to access your DSS benefits seamlessly anytime, anywhere. You can even check your SNAP balance in real-time.

Sign into Access Health CT 

If you have HUSKY A, B, or D, go to your Access Health CT account. You can view your current medical coverage, renew plans, and manage your health benefits.

Send your DSS benefits application by mail

If you can’t apply for your DSS benefits online, you can apply by mail. Download the Application for Benefits form, print it out, and mail it in to us. If you have a Client ID, please include it on any documents or applications.

To apply for your benefits in person, visit one of our DSS resource center locations. You can fill out an application on-site, or bring in your form and drop it off. Outside drop-boxes are also available. Please allow DSS 10 days to review and process any documents submitted before contacting us. 

DSS resource centers also offer Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services. This allows for deaf or hard-of-hearing persons to communicate with hearing persons using an experienced video interpreter via a webcam and internet connection. VRI services help us provide quick, on-demand assistance to CT’s deaf and hard of hearing communities.
